The Pearson Test of English (PTE) is a computer-based test for non-native English speakers to prove their English language proficiency for immigration or studying abroad. It is a fully automated test that assesses your reading, speaking, writing, and listening skills in one session using real-world contexts.
There are three types of PTE test:
PTE Types | Details |
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) | For students seeking higher education in an English-speaking country. |
PTE General (previously known as London Tests of English (LTE)) | For individuals who want to use English for travel and work purposes. Accepted by non-English speaking European countries. |
PTE Young Learners | English language assessment for students aged 6 to 13 years. |
PTE Academic is a preferable option for international students because it serves both academic and visa purposes of foreign studies. It examines your speaking, writing, reading and listening skills at an academic level on the basis of real-life scenarios which are suitable for both personal and academic environments. It is widely accepted by most of the countries of the world including USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and others. Moreover, most top universities, colleges, and immigration authorities accept PTE Academic for entry and visa.
The PTE test uses an AI-based automated system to perfectly and unbiasedly calculate your scores. A bonus is that you'll receive your test results early, within five days, which is perfect if your application deadline is near. So, if you wish to study at an overseas university and need to prove your English capability, or are applying for a work or migration visa, PTE Academic is a good choice.
