What is SAT?

SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test, is a standardized test used by the colleges / universities in the United States for the admission process. It was first introduced in 1926 and has been evolving over time. The SAT tests your reading, writing, and math abilities, with a score range from 400 to 1600. This score is used by U.S. universities to measure literacy, numeracy and writing skills of students which are further needed for admission decisions. 

SAT is owned, published and run by the College Board. It is a computer-based exam, and the exam duration is 2 hours and 14 minutes long. The tests are divided into two sections: Reading and Writing, and Mathematics, and each part is scored between 200 and 800 points

SAT Test Modules: Format, Structure and Question Types

The SAT is a 2-hour 14-minute exam, consisting of two sections: Reading & Writing and Math. Each section is divided into 2 equal length modules, with a 10-minute break between the Reading & Writing section and the Math section.

How to Register for the SAT Exam in Nepal?

STEP 1: Visit the official College Board website and create a new account by providing your personal information, including your name, address, phone number and email.
 

STEP 2: Log in to your account and choose your preferred test date and available exam centers.
 

STEP 3: Next step is to register for your SAT exam. Simply follow the instructions provided on the website.
 

STEP4: Pay the Registration Fee which is around US$111 ($68 general fee + $43 country specific fee for Nepal). You can pay with debit card, credit card, dollar card or through A class banks of Nepal.
 

STEP 6: Get ready for your SAT exam. Visit the exam center ahead of time, so that you don’t have trouble with the route on the test day. Also, mark the exam date on your calendar to ensure you don't forget. 
 

Key Details to Know before taking SAT test:
 

  • You should register for the SAT exam three to four weeks before the test day, or you'll have to pay a higher fee if you miss the deadline.
     
  • Carry your passport during the SAT exam. You can take your SAT's subject tests while studying in 12. The first requirement for the SAT is your passport.
     
  • You can't give both SAT 1 AND SAT 2 on the same day.
